Firstly, please click here to download MPC Beats for free, then follow the steps below...
1. Connect a USB audio interface to your computer.
Note: If your PC features its own audio input, you can use this instead of a USB audio interface.
2. If you are using an audio interface that has two 1/4" inputs, connect two 1/4" TRS cables from the Left (L) and Right (R) outputs of your drum module to inputs 1 and 2 on your interface.
If your computer has an analogue audio input, use a Y-split 1/4" TRS to 1/8" TRS cable to connect the Left (L) and Right (R) outputs of your drum module to the blue Audio In port on your computer.
3. Open MPC Beats and click the 3 lines in the top-left corner of your screen, then select Edit > Preferences.
4. Under the Audio Device tab, expand the Audio Device Type dropdown menu. If you are using your computer's built-in speakers, or your external speakers are connected directly to the computer's audio output, select Windows Audio. If you are using an external audio interface, select ASIO.
Mac OS users can skip this step.
5. Select the Inputs and Outputs of your computer or external audio interface.
6. On the main screen, click the Audio tab. From the Audio Input dropdown menu, select the inputs corresponding to where your audio cables are connected on your interface, record arm your track, and make sure input monitoring is set to AUTO.
5. Press the Record button, followed by the Play button, and then start striking the pads on your drum kit to record them.
All of your drum recordings will be saved as audio files rather than MIDI. This allows you to utilize the internal kit sounds for sampling or record your performance without the need to install any VST plugins on your computer.
