User-added image

Does it come with any included sounds and content?

Yes, this module will come with over 700 sounds/voices, 50 kits, and 30 user kits.

Can I add additional content to the module?

Absolutely! You can use a thumb drive plugged into the module itself to load the voices, press the USB MEM button on the module to access them there.

Are all kits edited directly on the DM10 MKII Pro module?

Yes! Kits can be created and edited on the module itself and will be saved to a user kit.

How do I save my personalized drum kits?

First, select the kit you would like to edit. Then press EDIT (F2) to view and change the kit settings. Here you can select a pad, choose effects, and make your changes to the kit. Press SAVE (F3) and enter a name for the kit. All saved kits will be stored in the User Kits.

Are there any settings that I'll need to adjust while setting up the kit for the first time?

The DM MKII Pro kit comes highly optimized right out of the box. This means that virtually anybody can set up the kit and start playing without having to adjust to a personal playing style. Separating the snare from the main rack also eliminates any crosstalk effects with the other pads, making less likely to have crosstalk issues.

Will this work with pads from my other Alesis kits or kits from other companies?

The majority of pads and triggers on the market today will very likely work with the kit, though there will certainly be some that require some setting tweaks and others that may not work at all due to design differences. Most triggers will use the same basic technology so you should be able to connect up other types if desired.

We recommend using the included pads for the kit or other Alesis pads for the most effective response.

Your favorite sticks will work just fine! Some companies do make sticks designed specifically for electronic drum kits, but while these are great options, they're not necessary. Any wooden or nylon tip sticks in any shape will work just fine.

If you'd like to avoid the wooden sticks getting worn down and catching on the mesh, nylon tipped sticks work great. Keep in mind, unlike acoustic drums, the material used in the sticks and shape of the tip will not have any effect on the sound produced.

Does the DM10 MKII Pro Kit support double-kick pedals?

Absolutely! The 8” mesh kick pad works with double bass drum pedal. If using a kick pedal with two beaters, try to position the beaters as close to the center of the pad as possible for the best results.

Can I use this to trigger drum software on my computer?

Yes, You can connect up the MIDI cables to your midi interface. You can also use the USB/MIDI output for use with virtual instrument and recording software.

Does the DM10 MKII Pro Kit require drivers to be connected to a computer?

No, this module is class compliant, not requiring you to install any additional drivers to work with the computer.

What is crosstalk and do I need to do anything to prevent it?

Crosstalk is the vibration from one pad causing a second pad to trigger. For example, striking the Ride cymbal causing Tom 3 to trigger without being hit. Inversely, crosstalk could also cause a trigger to be ignored, such as striking both the Ride and Tom 3 at the same time, but only the Ride is triggered. The vibration of one pad can be enough to cause sympathetic vibrations in another; setting off the trigger and causing the pad to sound inadvertently. Here are some tips for preventing some crosstalk from happening.

  • Make sure that none of the pads, cymbals, or clamps are touching each other.
  • Avoid wrapping cables around the rack.
  • Tighten the wing nuts on the cymbals so that the cymbals can move but won't swing or bounce. If a cymbal is bouncing and will cause more vibration, but if a cymbal is too stiff, the strike will transfer directly to the rack and the other pads.
  • Setting up the kit on a rug or carpeted surface can help. Hard surfaces are more prone to transfer vibrations.

My headphones have a built in microphone. Can I use these with my module?

The headphone output of the module is a common 1/8th inch (3.5mm) stereo output. Using headphones with a built in microphone (TRRS) may cause drops in your audio. It is recommended to use standard headphones with a TRS cable.
