This article will walk you through the process of disabling choke holds in BFD 3 to achieve open Hi Hats and a splashing sound from the Cymbals.

  1. To begin with, ensure that your Alesis Drum Kit is connected through USB and launch BFD 3.
  2. Click on Key Map and choose your preferred Alesis electronic drum kit (As an example, I have selected Alesis Surge Mesh SE).
  3. Go to Menu > Tools > Show Preferences.
  4.  Click on the Engine tab, scroll down to Fades and deselect Enable Choke Hold Notes.
  5. Now you can have fun playing your Hi Hats both open and closed, as well as the Cymbals splash.
